A very good point, Walt, and a smart remark, which I like.

The difference between facts and beliefs can be minute.

The way I see it is that as children and as adults, we learn to think certain things. There is structure to everything we think, and there is truly no limitation to our brains how to think. The basics got established - by us.

So, we express ourselves in letters, but also numbers, and with emoticons, for instance. Three different ways to communicate, each based on their own system.

So far, no one has any problem understanding this. Numbers are numbers, words are words, smiley faces are smiley faces.

It is only when we start to place values on the manner of communicating, or better of our thinking that we can get ourselves into problematic areas.

That's where the highest position comes in.

We could for instance say that numbers are superior because they go on infinitely, while letters are cute and can give us words, but 200,000 words is probably it for us human beings.

I hope you see the trap I created here quickly because there is truly no distinction in value between numbers and letters. Had one large group of people made numbers the most important thing, and another group letters, then we could have ended up seeing some skirmishes. Fortunately, we do not fight over the importance of numbers first or letters first. They provide us options to communicate and the more important part is of course whether the listener got the message or not. If it fell on deaf ears, then it was a waste of time.

That's why I like your reply, Walt. I don't know in how far I was able to communicate with you, but enough for you to respond, and that makes my day. Thank you.
