As long as the UK does not come back into the EU in its nasty 'exclusive' format that they have today? Then who cares but the Brits? I am fine with whatever the Brits WANT to do to themselves. If they WANT to rejoin the EU however, they must be a real democracy, right? If not, let's puke collectively, shall we? The UK is elitist. The UK ain’t our role model. (The USA ain’t our roles model either.)

Was there not a true Enlightenment in the UK? Why did the Brits never adhere to the Enlightenment? What really happened?

Very few nations in the world are pure two-party nations anymore. There used to be a lot more.

When New Zealand started using the German voting system, they increased the number of females in the seats with almost half as many more (from 21% to 30.8%), happened all in one single new election.

The voting system in the UK is not based on equality — it is based on a game of equality.

  • UK democracy: Voters are the same in the game (but not in the outcome).
  • The greatest amount of voters are repressed in the UK of any nation in the world (without a president).

When a representative can win a seat on average with 33%, for instance, then the majority decisions made by parliament are based on half that percentage. It is pathetic. No respect for the voters.

Parties do not need to listen to the voters as long as they win the seat. Once they have the seat they will only care about the voters that handed them their seat because that is all they need to win that seat again.

In a real democracy, the parties must always and continuously listen to all the voters. Simply because competition is stiff. All voters are represented by the parties all voters handpicked themselves; there are no losers. Voters can stop voting for one party very easily and start voting for another party, and that single vote is actually important for the results.

In the UK, only the single vote that makes the difference between win or lose is important. All voters are not important in the UK; only the voters that help the (two) parties getting their seats are important.

What a lousy system. No wonder the rich in Britain are richer than the rich on the mainland. The political elite is fully in control. No wonder the poor are poorer in Britain than the poor on the mainland. Their votes don’t matter at all; they are not important for the winners-taking-all.

You have an exclusive democracy on your hands in the UK where the outcomes are more extreme and somehow tolerated. If only Napoleon had invaded the UK (and then still was beat at Waterloo), it would have made the entire world a better place today. The UK would have had a better legal system and the UK would have reformed itself to become a (more) inclusive democracy a long time ago.
