Democracy in the US is the 18th century version. It is also known as winner-take-all. The truth about voting in districts is that it contains a round of divide-and-conquer. It is easily explained what is so bad about it [but it is better than what they have in Russia of course, that is so deplorable].
When we are segregated into districts first here in the US and then declared each other's equals, then we were had already.
We are then involved in Majority Rule times Two. Democracy becomes then an exclusive democracy.
When voters vote in districts, only the majority gets their representative.
Then, these winners at the table make a decision. That is the second round of Majority Rule.
In 2006, US Senators won their seat on average with 60 percent of the votes. When they vote with the filibuster in place, they vote with 60 percent of the votes.
0.6 x 0.6 = 0.36, a minority decision portrayed as if it were a majority decision.

In Proportional Voting, the voters are optimized in the outcome. It is an inclusive democracy. When there are 4 seats, then 80 percent is guaranteed their choice in a seat. When there are 9 seats, then 90 percent is guaranteed. That is a big difference with just 50% plus one vote, right?
0.9 x 0.6 = 0.54, a majority decision in every respect.
Join the new movement Local Revolutions. We write to city officials because the US Constitution demands that the People are indeed served the better voting system. Come join us.
It is just for cities and counties, but that is an excellent spot to start and learn how the real form of democracy works.
