Excellent reply, Zachary, and let me first state that the Founding Fathers were extremely smart. They did two completely different things at the same time.

On the one hand, they secured that the Federal government would not be torn into twenty different political directions by describing how to elect President and Senators. These winners-take-all are the stabilizing forces of the nation.

The other part they described well is the personal freedom of We The People, and of governments not allowed to deny or disparage rights by the people.

The first part succeeded, but the second part slipped through their and our hands.

As I see it, the very smart actions by the Founding Fathers were not replicated by no-where smart State officials.

The limitations of the Federal voting setup got copied and pasted at the State level and even copied and pasted at the local level. Both are levels where the voting restrictions are non-functional, politically speaking. It does not help anyone; it does the opposite, it stifles freedom. There was never the intention to establish a two-party system.

We ended up with a two-party system not because the Founding Fathers made a mistake but because their smart actions were followed up by not-smart actions by others.

It is not just the not-smart actions at the State level of copying and pasting the restricted system, but particularly so by the not-smart inactions of the people in the States. They did not realize they were being taken for a ride. They did not complain; they said, “Sure, why not, let's just accept it for what it is.”

Insult to injury is of course the copying and pasting at the local levels where there are completely zero reasons to have a restricted voting system in place.

The People nailed themselves to the ground. They did not speak up. The two-party system got established because the States copied the restricted voting system.

The good news is that Local Revolutions grassroots organization (of which I am the founder) has sent more than 120 Constitutional Invocations to cities and counties so far (and more keep on coming), so your wish has been granted: there is action.

We need not change the Federal level. The Founding Fathers were smart. We have to get smart now ourselves, too.

We did not keep what the Founding Fathers gave us.

Yet we can get it, today.
