Excellent reporting, Dave.

I had the pleasure to communicate with a Canadian, and it became rather obvious to me how the Canadian system selects its representatives.

Allow me to write it down as follows:

When representatives deliver what voters want, then there is never a problem.

However, when representatives fall out of their role (for instance with Covid), then the enormous distance between the voters and the representatives becomes visible in one day.

That happened to this Canadian fellow. The wool was pulled off his eyes because the representatives ended up following their own agenda and not the voters' agenda.

I have no specific beef with this topic, but it was quite interesting to see the Canadian guy explain what he witnessed. It all made sense.

In Canada, we have first-past-the-post, which means that someone with 30% of all votes may get the seat. As long as this person delivers to as many people as possible, we are good. Yet when not, then the voters will find another party to vote for next time.

In the USA, we are not that lucky/unlucky. The representatives also have to deliver to as many as possible, yet their situation can be much firmer because the competition has to win over the 50% of the votes (in local elections this is a bit different because there are elections that function just like first-past-the-post in the USA).

So, I get it now. There are other influences, such as French Canadians and Civil Law, and there is an enormous stretch of the population living just right above the border with the USA, so we can end up with political diversity because of that, too.

Fascinating.

Dave, I received disturbing news. Another reader let me know that some of my posts were visually blocked for all to see.

Now, that blocking me is not a problem for me; it is everyone's right to block me, my articles and all my cuckoo eggs I posted with their articles. I actually learn a bit when I see my reply removed.

But this other reader said he saw my posts blocked. I have never seen anyone's posts blocked and it is actually quite disturbing to be a political analyst and at times a rebel rouser and then having all readers see that some of my replies were blocked. It explains some of my bleeding followers.

Can I ask you if you have seen that in my case? Any evidence you can share?

If I happen to disappear on Medium, I will contact you via Linked In.

Thank you for a very good and well-articulated article. You present your position really well here.
