Fortunately, we can reimagine ourselves. A new movement is underway, Invoking cities, demanding Proportional Voting is put in place. And that is no joke.

Did you know that voters in District elections have about half the power as voters in Proportional Voting? It is actually very easy to show.

In Districts, 50% plus one delivers the win to one of the candidates. Next, the winners sit on the council making council decisions. All they need is half plus one vote.

Did you see it? Majority rule times majority rule is minority rule. For example, 0.60 x 0.60 = 0.36. The majority of voters are not supporting many or even all council decisions.

So, that is unconstitutional because cities and counties are not empowered in the US Constitution and yet they must follow the Bill of Rights without exception (Fed and States do have a way out).

In Proportional Voting, majority rule occurs just once.

If a city council has four seats, then 80% of the voters can already point toward the political figure they wanted in that seat. If three out of four make a majority decision (75%), then we have 0.80 x 0.75 = 0.60 percent, a clear majority decision.

With nine seats, 90% of the voters can at minimum point to the ones they want in these seats. Majority decision with five out of nine is 0.55. Multiply times 0.90 and the result is exactly 50%.

In District Voting with nine seats that result can go as low as 27.77%. Yip, a very clear minority decision, and about half the empowerment as voters in Proportional Voting.

Come join us. Invoke your City.
