Thank you for being interested/sharing interests, Veritas. I lived in three different countries with three different voting systems.

I studied voting systems and governmental systems since the mid 1990s.

As such, I know that all three cultures/nations do not educate their own people on any other voting system but their own. Yet I do know that with the internet international comparisons are being made by many folks, and comparative conclusions are being drawn.

I have lived in the USA since the mid '90s and while happy about that, I also see that the bottom of society here is lower than the bottom of the one I was born in, and as low as the other society I lived in but that was a poorer nation overall. I’m glad of course that I am not at the bottom.

The opposite is also true, the ceiling here is beyond cloud nine. I’m actually glad that I am not on cloud nine either.

I started comparing nations and I made the following graph in 2006, using nationmaster.com and CIA World Factbook information.

Notice the White Area above columns #4 and #5.

As you can see, Columns four and five are grouped more in their various outcomes than Columns one and three that are stretched more in their various outcomes.

That means that system-wise, the bandwidth for the rich is wider and apparently therefore that the rich can manipulate the system more. The representatives listen (and give) more to the elite.

The same is true for the poor, the poor can do quite worse in these nations. The difference between 1.7% (USA) and 3.7% (Denmark) of the national cake may sound like not much in either case, but it is like getting $500 or getting $1100 a month.

I can see that you know a lot from the inside out. We may be a good team together : -)

Let me end (because the previous reply was quite long already) with a link. I have written about political systems much, but always with the slant that we can improve it here in the USA -- no need to change the US Constitution.
