I love how one has to read this at least two times and then still can get confused about what positions are being taken in by whom. The Möbius strip in the title is therefore a very good choice.
I like it, too, because it reminds me of Matrix 2 where the person 'in control' of it all speaks in so many different ways it becomes nonsensical. And let me blurt it out: that's exactly what our politicians end up doing a good amount of the times, not addressing issues as the inevitable result.
I write about political structures/systems, and the US having a winner-take-all system explains most of its ills including the battle addressing racism.
Think winner-take-all, police brutality, and cops very often not charged with murder, and it makes sense.
Think winner-take-all, quality of education from the very best school districts to the very worst school districts, and it makes sense.
Think winner-take-all, competition for scarce resources, and poverty for those at the bottom unlike other rich nations, and it makes sense.
Think winner-take-all, health care insurance, and ending up paying more than any other rich nation, and it makes sense.
Think winner-take-all, black folks being oppressed and whites pushing back, and it all makes sense.
Our system is like musical chairs. The people trying to win the last single seat become weird people who claim to represent all people but represent no people at the same time. Our power structure causes us to battle particularly about minor issues that are not important, but are made important so we don't have to talk about the important issues.
We are a pseudo democracy because we do not have a system of representation in place, but a system where we have-a-chance of representation in place.
With large groups of voters not receiving representation, the battle is on to get the ones that do sit in the seats (all of them majority winners) to listen to our specific needs. Winner-take-all always ends with one group fighting another group for the single seat.
The United States is therefore the leader of the first world and the leader of the third world. The best of the best for the top of the nation. The same conditions as any poor nation in the world for those at the bottom. At the bottom, the infight is the meanest.
