I welcome the news, but it is a sad day when indeed we have to scare the Russians back to Russian territory.
I do not subscribe to your picking on nations embracing democracy. I grew up in a democracy because the Allieds got rid of the fascists that had bombed my home town.
When I look at China, another fascist nation, then I am glad I do not live there. I hate elitist societies.
As such, I do understand where you are coming from, being upset with the UK and the USA; they have a two-party system; there are two elites both taking turns.
But we can change it. We have the means to break the voting systems open so there are at least three, four or even five empowered parties representing all of the voters. That is actual freedom, just like a basic color copier only has red, blue, yellow and black ink.
The world is not finished, but many European nations, the happier nations in the world, are living in a democracy, the voters fully represented, not winners-taking-all.
Picking between Russia and the imperfect UK and USA is easy. The Russians are still not the Europeans we would like them to be. They still have not had any inkling on what true Enlightenment is.
We have to fight bad with bad, sad but true. We have to tell the bully to back down. We have to tell the fascists to get back inside their own brains and fix up their thinking.
The Russians waltzed into another country. I really don't think you can imagine being in that country that got waltzed over by the Russians. I really don't think you understand your city being bombed.
This is our democratic world; it is the frontier and it is an imperfect world. But what is on the other side is a nasty elite that does not care about the rest of the world at all; their people behaving like sheep.
