In general, female candidates do better in proportional voting than in our system. In this map I created you can see the standing of females in the political world as it existed in 2006.

Though the number of female representatives improved in the US since, so did the female standing in other nations. The lag is therefore similar as shown on this map (the white areas are also filled in better with today’s info).

The explanation is simple. In winner-take-all the fighter wins, and though Warren is the best fighter I have seen in years, the (popular) perception is that a male can be a better fighter. Yes, this is dumb, but if there is only one that can go to war, who will it be?

In proportional voting, there is no fight over that single seat. The entire pie is cut up according to the entire outcome, and this means that fighters are actually less desired. Warriors may be less welcome. People that can cooperate in smarter ways are more welcome.

We were had if we believed our system was fair. It isn’t, as I hope to show in this article The American Truth, added here below. An element of a shell game is found within our system, and there is indeed the opportunity for a fix, today.
