In the old days, religion always involved multiple gods. The idea of a single All-Mighty God is an unnatural position, and it was recognized as such.
The idea that 0 and 1 were real numbers was alien to ancient folks.
So, we modern people, we learned to think in abstracts, and there are no better numbers to form abstracts with than 0 and (particularly) 1.
Concepts are (or should be) conjugated in the singular.
The government is....
The family is...
The situation is....
We do not say, the situation are, the government are, the family are, unless in our minds we think of these singular concepts as plural (the agents of government are, the members of the family are, etc).
So, that is what is meant with modern. About 5,000 or 6,000 years ago, the idea of abstract thinking became established in the real world, whereas before the idea of abstract thinking was never considered to represent actual entities.
The idea of All-Mighty is already not based on an actual reality. All can be translated with 1, and Mighty (or mightiest) can be translated with 1st.
There is not a word in the world that can combine 1 and 1st into anything meaningful. It does not exist. It is a brain fart. It's like a math teacher desiring all his students to do better than average on a test -- not possible.
