Infinity is real only for space and in virtual realities. Any other use of the word infinity, and we are dealing with a concept and not with reality.
Cut an apple in half, and cut the subsequent parts in half, and keep doing that ad infinitum.
Sooner rather than later, one has nothing but apple sauce on the cutting board. Continue more, and a bit later one does not even have an apple flavor left.
Infinity is a concept and a bad one to consider. I'll explain in a bit why space can indeed be infinite.
In philosophy, it is fine to work with concepts and then dig in, get the goodies above water. Yet concepts are never the solid truths; they are the specific and accepted realities of life.
Contrast this with the religious realm in which a top position (the belief) is placed, and hopefully all other details will fall in place underneath. It is a top-down endeavor about the largest picture there is.
The second comparison is with science in which the details are first established before moving to the larger theories. It is a bottom-up endeavor to understand the largest picture there is.
Philosophy truly fits half-way in between science and religion. So, concepts are philosophical items to work with. They are self-based, accepted to declare a specific truth.

Next to space, there is another reality in which infinity can be used: the artificial virtual reality. Once we accept an artificial reality, for instance, finance, then we can apply infinity to it.
The artificial reality is not real, but we accept it for what it is, have it be real (and as such it can even influence our reality, such as achieved by money). A national bank can print up money ad infinitum, for instance.
And that brings me to the last frontier: Space.
It is infinite for one real good reason. It is a phenomenon. A phenomenon is real but has no attributes of its own.
A good example of a phenomenon is the eye of the storm. We see it, so it is real. Yet the eye is the result of the storm while there is no wind force expressed inside the eye. The eye is therefore a phenomenon, real, but no attributes that created it can be applied to the eye itself.
In our universe, we cannot use the concept Infinity, except in the artificial, virtual reality, and for space.
