Isn't that true, Jessica.
Ever since I came to the States, I have been wondering why people do not have the capacity to work things out together for the betterment of all. The divide-and-conquer game is so deeply ingrained that we end up on islands by ourselves and our close ones, then skip all the rest on various other levels, and then at the overall level, we're trying to get full attention, declaring our true story even if it is too strange to believe.
I do see the pioneering spirit in our culture. Folks were, for instance, not just religious to be religious, but also able to make new friends through that organization when moving on to the next opportunity where other religious people would welcome them almost instantly.
It is almost as if the separation from wherever we came from got worked into the fabric of the United States, and while cooperating we are also keeping a safe distance, not trusting unless a certain color was declared.
And yet truth-telling is also part of the culture; perhaps to show others our own humanity, and to connect wth others, and warning them about the ills of other groups, bandits and what-have-you out there.
You keep writing your stories. You're doing a great job!
