The Surprising Minority That Runs the USA.
We all feel for minorities because in our hearts of hearts we all believe that we are human beings, all worthy of a good life. But one minority does not need our sympathy. They are the people who are well off, taking in plenty enough for themselves.
Minority Rule
The United States has minority rule, and yet you will be hard-pressed to find anyone saying that the United States is not a democracy, not a republic, and that we are ruled by a minority of voters.
- Folks will not believe you.
So, how is it possible? How did this minority end up on top?
When starting out with majority rule but then applying majority rule once again, in effect doubling down on it, then the end result is mostly minority rule.
- Folks aren’t paying attention and they think that all is majority rule. In their minds, the multiplication factor is not fully calculated in with the results.
I did the calculations for the US Senators that were in office in 2006, and they were voted in with a little more than 59 percent on average. Let’s call that 60 percent.
Let’s also stick to the filibuster and have all Senate decisions made with 60 out of 100 Senators.
