One surprise about Plato and a disappointment about Plato when I first read one of his works.

Surprise: Plato was sitting right next to me on the couch where I was reading his work. He could not be closer, more personal in his descriptions. He was right there. Amazing.

Disappointment: His logic was false. Actually, it was mean. He used his intelligence to take you by the hand and lead you to a false outcome thinking it had to be correct.

A -> B

B -> C

C -> D

D -> E

Plato's conclusion: A -> E

He went from one truth, and another, to jumping from one position to another that was too far removed.

He did not take the increased settings into consideration, as if all logic exists in one field and one field only.

So, he was definitively remarkable, and at the same time a liar. His brain was working perfectly fine, but he did not recognize that he had no good understanding of the large picture. He faked it. He did not use his logic against himself.
