Science = bottom-up.
Religion = top-down.
They will never be the same, Turner.
In science, we can sometimes jump to the highest level, but we cannot stay there unless there is data to support that position.
So, a hypothesis can indeed be created, but we do so for exploration. Once the evidence we gathered shows no support for the hypothesis, then the hypothesis goes to the graveyard.
In religion, one can start with the top position, and then keep it there.
The attempt is then to declare everything underneath that top position. Not all data will be aligned, because the only top position that can be put in place that supports all data is a position of Not-One.
So, if we have two main principles that do not agree with one another (let's call them Adam and Eve), then we can have them at the top level (i.e. both were created at the same time, not in an order of one first then the other). But... God is then also no longer whole. So, there is then never a single top position.
