So well written, Colin, that even though it was walking me into the dark truths of others, I was happy you were the one telling it.

Folks are frustrated because they all see we are not playing the human game right, and they can't change it, so they end up in fantasyland. You put it to words real well.

As I see it, folks are not empowered enough. The decisions are made above their heads. Where we are told we live in a democracy, the decision makers appear to not be based on us, the voters.

In fact, if we vote in districts, then we were already sent up the river. In district voting there is one round of bondage involved before we get to vote.

Let me tell you in plain words.

In a district (divide) we compete with other voters, and that means someone did not have to share all powers with us (and conquer).

The vote was, for instance, tallied at 70 percent of the votes for the winner. Pretty good, right?

Yet next, another majority rule got applied on top of this majority rule. Say, the winner and the other winners decided among themselves for something with 70 percent as well.

0.70 x 0.70 = 0.49, a minority decision.

We were sold down the river.

I understand conspiracy theorists because I can see the conspiracy. It is not a person deciding it. It is people in the past having made that decision for us when they sold our fore-parents this system of one round of divide-and-conquer.

It makes people believe in something that is not true.

In Proportional Voting, there is just one round of majority rule, with the board making the decision. The Board itself got voted in proportionally, so most voters got the one they wanted.

Take a Board with 7 members. The Board decision can already be had with four out of seven.

That is 57.14 percent.

Multiply this times the minimum it takes to win the seats.

  • District voting: 57.14 x 50 percent (plus one vote) = 28.57%.

That’s just a few more than one-in-four voters is then supporting this 'majority' decision.

  • Proportional Voting: 57.14 x 87.5 percent = 50%.

There are no minority decisions in Proportional Voting.

Life is never perfect in a democracy. But it should not be made worse by a systematic lie. We deserve better and should not be pushed toward a fantasyland.

Thank you, Colin, for making me read your wonderful story about our darker brains. You got it. I'm jealous how well you write, and thankful you are doing it.
