Some Americans are very rich indeed. Yet most Americans are not richer than people in other rich nations, not at all. Worse, the poor in the United States are the poorest people in the rich nations of the world.
You should write an article how America's poor are the poorest people of the rich world.

Look at all rich nations in the world, per the Gini index. That way, you know I am right. The USA is reddest of them all (note that there are rich in poor nations in the world where these rich have a higher percentage of all their nation than our rich).
Do you know why we have the poorest people in the rich world? Because we do not empower voters.
Voters compete with voters in the voting booth for the win. So, that is 1 - 0 for the rich because 40% to 49% got removed from our democracy till their next chance to win or loose.
Then, all the winners start fighting with each other for making the political decisions. So, that is 2 - 0 for the rich because what appears to be a majority decision really is a minority decision. Just 25% to 30% of the voters are needed to pass a bill.
And if you are rich, you can buy the candidates both from the left side and the right side. That’s 3 – 0.
In the USA, the rich always win. They end up being the richest on the planet because we are not a democracy (nor a republic). They don't have to share like the rich share in other rich nations.
The happiest nations in the world are very often using Thomas Jefferson's good voting system. They have We The People. We don't.
