I have one major issue with TDG and it is exactly because it requires people to be better people than we are. I am all for humans developing our collaborative, consultative and consensus skills, but a voting system, or a governmental layer for that matter, cannot be based on who we should be.

At heart, politics is the spot where outcomes are forged.

Therefore a quick mentioning of a commercial I saw in a magazine about earning money, which is from a business setting and not from a political setting but that has a good description about the political arena:

No one earns what they deserve;

All earn what they negotiated.

The point: Politics is about negotiations.

When we place the negotiations in a setting of playing basketball, then the tall folks get to negotiate, no one else, and that is not right. So we have to get the game out of our political setups.

Yet any system in place must deal with that forging and when that is not the case then the proposal is not good enough.
