Thank you, David, for a good insight deeper in our souls. You're quite right.

As addition, I need to add that the old-English voting system we have in place makes things worse.

Thomas Jefferson created the pure voting system, so all voters go to the voting booth and pick their own representatives. It's like cutting up the cake. Proportional means that the majority of the voters get just the majority of the seats.

But that is not what we have. We have voters competing with the voters.

The losers get nothing they selected themselves. The majority does not have the majority of the seats. The majority of voters get ALL the seats.

So, our system is deeper, meaner, more devastating for those that lose.

And then, you are quite right, the fear of not being represented at the table, left out from the decision making process by those elitists around the table? That is a deep missing out.

We have lots of money in our voting system because losing is the most painful part, not being represented at all.

We should have Thomas Jefferson's pure voting system in place (at least for State and local elections; the Federal elections are declared in the US Constitution, so too difficult to change).

Thank you for your reply. Right on the nail.
