In most Western European nations, there is no real president (France the exception).

In how far is the Czech President empowered?

Can the President take the nation in his own willed direction?

P.S. I'm not in favor of presidents, unless they are of the good kind that serves all people in a nation well. Too many presidents pamper to an elite (more than prime-ministers ever can).
