Thank you for writing this article, Benjamin. I am actually living this singular perspective, thinking one is right (and the other wrong), after I wrote a scientific article in which the Black Hole model received a competitor model by me, the Black Eye model. Yes, I teased many folks with the title using irreverence as 'bait'. You should read (most) replies I received in which no one is actually capable of undermining the presented additional model. And yet they paint the possibility of having another model as something only an ill-minded person could write. I even had some folks block me from seeing their articles, people I had never communicated with at all, ever : - ). Of course, I think their replies are the bomb because they show me what is on their minds and how little of a researcher they have inside of them. Just like you write in much better language, these folks can't get outside their own box. Then, there are the smart folks that may not immediately accept the alternate model as correct, but who are interested. I love their replies of course.
Here is the article, in case you want to see the replies for yourself (though you understand this reality well enough already).
