The flaw lies in the assumption, Stephen, that you have the bull by the horns.

You do not.

You see the bull, you recognize the horns, but you are standing away from the bull, probably at a safe distance, telling others what we should do.

Can you climb the bull? Can you take the bull by the horns?

If you can, please do.

If you can't, then recognize that taking the bull by the horns is the actual essence that you did not say a word about: power.

As long as we do not organize power well, we will end up with a rotten society for a large group of people, which is apparently heaven for the happy few.

Power is not organized the same in all nations.

In the UK and the USA, we have competition-for-the-sake-of-competition. Voters compete with voters for the chance of being represented, and this is a very weak form because the bull is very large and we can't grasp the horns with our tiny hands.

In nations with proportional voting, the voters have twice the empowerment. Their hands can grasp the horns a bit better. The voters are more in control.

Are there many nations in the world with this system? Unfortunately, there are very few.

The worst part is that nations like the USA and the UK undermine the strength of voters in these nations. The bulls roam almost free here, which means that foreign investors love to flock here and take home the same surplus that domestic companies also squeeze out of the large bottom segment of our society.

That means that the other nations must play a similar game of competition-for-the-sake-of-competition or they will see all investors leave their country for greener pastures. They play our game in similar fashion and then with the leftovers improve their societies (yes, these societies are indeed better for all than what the USA and the UK deliver).

So, one piece of advice: Focus on the real issue. You are trying to fix a problem by finding solutions for the symptoms and you are not focusing on the cause itself.

Don't work with concepts that are not in the center of things because you will then end up with fantastic solutions that are great indeed but that will not be realized because you are not talking about the actual essence of our societies, economies, and politics.
