The pathway to improve democracy in the USA lies not in Washington but rather with you. As long as we focus on Mom and Dad (the two-party system) to make the change to something better, we're screwing ourselves.
The Founding Fathers are with us if you really want to live in a better democracy. But you have to stop sitting on your hands and looking for Mom and Dad. You have to grow up and take action.
It's fairly simply.
The US Constitution declares that you have rights that no government can deny or disparage. And yet you let it. You are immobile while the government denies and disparages your rights.
The government divides you into districts and then declares you equal with all the others in your district. That is one round of divide-and-conquer, and you are sitting on your hands, not doing anything about it. It’s probably Stockholm Syndrome, you fully agree with Mom and Dad.
In all fairness, the State has loopholes, so the State is actually pretty difficult to nail down and give up their game of elitist paternity.
However, the State oversteps its authority where it declares how you should vote in local elections. That is overreach, and they were not given that freedom at all.
But you are still sitting on your hands. You see three levels of government and they are all doing the same thing (dominate you), so you think that's the way it is.
The Founding Fathers never envisioned this country the way it functions today. They never even pronounced anything 'city' or 'county' in the US Constitution, so the overreach of States to tell you how you must vote for your city or county is not based on the US Constitution. They walked right over you and you did not pay attention. Your rights are denied and disparaged, probably because you got accustomed to sitting on your hands.
You can join the Local Revolutions grassroots movement to change that. Most likely, however, you are going to sit on your hands and wait and see if anyone else gets up from their seat. Perhaps you write another article.
