The problem of the free market is not that it is free. The problem of the free market is that the other regulating institutions become vitally important.
Did you know that District Voting gives only half the power to voters than Proportional Voting does?
It is easy to show. We have Majority Rule applied twice. They have Majority Rule only once.
Being divided into districts, we already lost one round, and the plutocrats won that round.
Here is an example.
We pick a representative with 70% of the votes. Pretty impressive, right?
Our representatives on the Board make a decision with 70% of their votes. Pretty impressive, right?
0.70 x 0.70 = 0.49, a minority decision.
When we have a free market, then the other systems of regulation become very important.
Our system can make a decision already with 50% (plus one vote in the district) times 50% (plus one vote on the board) = 0.25 to 0.30 percent.
Our communal decisions are made on compounding grounds that certainly make the happy few happy. Less regulation possible exactly where we need a well regulating organization.

Come join us in the Local Revolutions, because the Founding Fathers gave us a gift. Cities are NOT allowed to segregate us in districts, says the US Constitution.
Like a Trojan Horse, we already have a mechanism in place that should give us Proportional Voting at the local level. Proportional Voting has one round of majority vote in total; there is no diminishment of our votes through a mechanism of compounding majority times majority. It is the better system.
The local level is also a good way to learn how a free democracy works. Then, we can take it one level up to the State level. The Framers gave us a little door. Let's take it.
