We can improve our political system today because the Founding Fathers gave us a gift. It is a good start to learn how a full-color democracy functions.

One of the reasons we are in this pickle is because the voting system does not deliver what we need. Too much of our power goes to the wrong spots in society. Our representatives represent us plus anyone else that helps them get reelected next time around. We are not the sole focus of our representatives.

In Proportional Voting the voters are empowered and the representatives pay much closer attention to the voters. If they do not, then next time they are gone. In our system the incumbents have a pretty good chance to stay in power. On average, our representatives are five years older than representatives in Proportional Voting. They can clean the dirt out of their system; we can't.

The Founding Fathers gave us a gift. We should have Proportional Voting in our cities and counties.
