We don't have a democracy in the USA. What we have does not fit the definition.
Voters compete with voters in the voting booth for the win, so that is not democracy.
Democracy is being represented by one's own individual choice, not by the choice of the community.
Really, we have divide-and-conquer in place and we call ourselves a republic.
40% to 49% of the voters leave the voting booth empty-handed. 1 - 0 for the (red or blue) elite in power.
Then, the winners in the seats they fight with each other for another round of win. 2 - 0 for the elite because we only need about 25% to 30% of all voters for a decision.
3 - 0 for the elite, because they made us and our politicians so money-hungry that they can buy candidates left and right.
We don't have voter equality. Our democracy is not real.
Thomas Jefferson devised a fair voting system we should have used at local and State levels, per the US Constitution, but somehow didn't.
Other, happier nations in the world are using Thomas Jefferson's voting system. They have We The People.
We do not have We The People, and anyone saying we do is lying. Anyone who says we are a pure democracy and we need to work harder to get what it should deliver is fixing up the margins and not looking at the rotten roots.
