We need a true democracy, and I truly do not understand why Democrats aren't making a strong case for real representation. Why do they want us to suffer in this crummy system?
Did you know that as voters we have about half the empowerment that voters have in proportional systems?

Voters in a proportionally elected democracy do not compete with one another. We, on the other hand, we compete with one another in the voting booth. Many of us get nothing.
In Proportional Voting, the voters all declare their one favorite, and then the entire pie is cut up according to the portion of voters that wanted green, blue, yellow, red, orange, or purple. Pro-portion. A portion of ten percent of the voters green -- then a portion of ten percent of the representatives green, too.
Pro-portional.
We fight with each other instead whether it is going to be red or blue. Anyone voting for green is laughed at. We are put in political cages.

The Founding Fathers wrote a document that tells us that we should have Proportional Voting in place today in our cities and counties.
The US Constitution hands powers to the Federal government, the States respectively, and the People.
The good news is that cities and counties are not mentioned in the highest document of the nation. That means that the Bill of Rights is 100% applicable to them, and that they do not have a cop out like the States do.
That means that cities and counties cannot segregate us in districts first and then declare us each other's equals after. That is not allowed. The ruling is very clear: separate-but-equal is unconstitutional at the local level of government.
