We should have the democracy that the Framers put in place. We do not.

The elections at the Federal level are as declared in the US Constitution.

The elections we have today at State and local level are not as described.

The Framers put a minimum standard in place (see Ninth, Tenth, and Fourteenth Amendments) to guarantee that US citizens are given their privileges and immunities at State and local levels.

What happened?

The individual States used the old-English voting system instead. They did not want to give us our privileges.

Thomas Jefferson already devised the clean voting system. Instead, we use the dirty voting system at all levels. Other nations are using Thomas Jefferson's clean voting system. We do not.

Here is why the USA has the lowest percentage of voter turnout for local elections anywhere in the free world.

The quick answer? There is no value to vote at the local level.

The longer answer: We only have minority rule in the USA. Here is how it works.

Our dirty old-English elections:

60% of the voters get their pick.

60% of the 'picks' make the decision.

60% x 60% = 36%, voter minority rule

Thomas Jefferson clean voting system:

99% of the voters get their pick.

60% of the 'picks' make the decision.

99% x 60% = 59.4%, voter majority rule

Look no further. The voters aren't dumb. They stay home (sometimes more than 90% of all local eligible voters stay home, don't vote). Why? Because there is no voter empowerment. Voters compete with voters instead of the normal state of affairs of having parties compete with parties.

Our democracy is like flipping a coin: heads or tails

This is meant to be used at the Federal level. It is the law.

But... at the State and local level is should be like rolling dice: we should end up with a variety of outcomes like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6's.

We are held in a straight jacket to vote Red or Blue. We must vote heads or tails.

That is NOT what the Framers gave us for all three levels of government. Only for the Federal level should we have that. For all other elections we should have the clean and fair voting system.
