What I dislike most about Russia is that they have a system in place that is awkwardly 18th century. They 'elect' Putin, probably because they want to appear modern.
Do I feel for the Russians? Absolutely. They have a system in place that gives all power to a very tiny political elite. They gave themselves up and are at the mercy of madmen.
Let's compare it to the US or the UK. The differences are actually not all that great. Yet instead of giving ourselves up and be at the mercy of madmen, we divided up the madmen into two groups. Okay, the UK has a third party with some power once every 100 years, but basically it’s a two-party dictatorship, say 19th century, not 18th century therefore.
The true answer for our ills is better democratic systems. It does not mean 20 little parties because that is not better when problems arise. Yet a basic color copier has red, blue, yellow and black ink to make anything look good. So, that's what we need, a four-party system, likely to be five or six, but not twelve parties.
Not a surprise that the Germans figured it out. After all, they have the most experience of any nation in the world with political systems, plus the black-page history that used up much of their black ink. The Russians are depleting their black ink quickly today, while the British had run out of that probably already before Germany and Italy even existed. The USA used up a good amount.
What we need are what I call Mexican pyramids, the ones with the flat or truncated tops. We need a platform in top for real political discussion and. guidance. We need to get rid of the Egyptian pyramids that have just a single position in top. Basically, we have to remove the option to jerk the top in one direction. We have to get rid of the jerk potential.
Nations with the Mexican pyramid do not go to war all that easily (I know of none, but I could be mistaken).
Nations with the Egyptian pyramid sometimes end up in civil war, some end up fighting with their neighboring countries.
We need a better world; it needs to be organized better. We can start at home.
‘Best democracy, worst democracy’
