What is missing in the United States is the We-The-People voting system. We don't have it. We have We-The-Winners voting system.
Voters compete with voters for the win. Pretty sick, no? Plus, very good for the winners of course.
Had it not been for the Great Depression, then we would have never had the New Deal. Our political voting system would not have made that jump. About 50 years later, the New Deal started to get undermined. Today, we are back at what our voting system brought us in the early 1900s.
We can change it, but the downside of divide-and-conquer is that those licking their wounds don't get together; they are incapable of organizing themselves. Rather, they look up to the ones that are leading, hoping that the words We The People has any meaning to the ones more interested in We The Winners.
Come join the good fight, Mitchell. I can tell you want to. Help us get the Proportional Voting system in our cities and counties, exactly where the US Constitution already demands it.
