When dealing with good cop/bad cop, the truth is that we are in their custody already. We are indeed not free people when the choice is macaroni or spaghetti and you wanted a (vegan) hamburger. You are absolutely right, Lauren, good cop is also NOT delivering.
So, what do you propose? I know what I propose and the grassroots organization I work for (Local Revolutions, always in bold because it is a bold move to take on your own government), but what is it that you propose? One cannot get out of the circus by voting for more tigers or more clowns. One has to actually walk out of the circus.
The problem we have is that 30% of the voters can lead the nation. That is not the case in other democracies.
Abortion has been captured by good political policies in other nations, often leading to the lowest abortion rates in the world. They have a 50% requirement of support by the voters before they can govern. We only have that 30% of the voters in place.
Often, the 30% is aware it has to be good to more, so in effect it is as if they are working for at least 50% of the voters, but as we see with abortion, the 30% have steadily been stacking the courts.
In other nations, they have separate of powers, and we do not.
The way it works there is that judges appoint judges. And the way it works there is that the judges hardly ever make political decisions because the politicians are quite capable of making the political decisions. If and when the judges do make a politicial decision, and when the population at large does not like it, then the rules are changed by the politicians, so the judges have to follow where the politicians say they must follow.
Here, we have a completely disfunctional government that is notorious for not-getting things done.
What is your plan, Lauren?
