When I arrived in the United States in the mid nineties, I was flabbergasted that scientists here proclaimed that we did not know whether we influence the climate or not. That was ten years after common agreement among scientists in Europe that we are involved in influencing the climate.

What a backwater, right? But why is/was the USA such a scientific backwater?

Politics.

It turns out that the USA is not a democracy but a two-party system, always lopsided.

Not the truth is essential, power is.

What a disgrace.

The stupid two-party system is responsible for not educating people as quickly as needed. Rather, the two-party system prevented spreading the knowledge that now -- forty years later -- is finally accepted in the USA as true by nearly all our scientists.

We need a better political system especially for the leader of the world because our current voting system with its lopsided results suppresses the truth and empowers those in power (and their agendas).

Good article, Samie. Keep doing what you are doing.
