Winner-take-all nations put power in the middle, and truth its step child.

Proportional nations put truth in the middle, and power its step child.

The happier nations tend to put truth in the middle. The see their own truths; they embrace their own truths.

USA, UK? Not so much. Power rules.

One Anglo nation that escaped the competition-for-the-sake-of-competition mindset is New Zealand.

They changed their winner-take-all voting system in 1996 and their female representatives jumped from 21% to 30.8% in one election. Now? Fifty-fifty males and females.

When a voting system is not rigged, then the truth enters the framework much more easily than when a voting system is rigged. The truth is the first victim of winner-take-all.
