You are getting closer, Aaron, and I appreciate your willingness to twist and turn your knowledge so you can grasp the model. Let's see if we can find the model as envisioned.
The Black Eye is the gravitational center of the Galactic Masses. The minimum and the maximum of gravity in the entire galaxy are found right next to one another.
This is the same as we see with the Eye (0) in the middle and the Wall (1) of the Eye of the Storm sitting right next to the minimum in the center.
The Wall of the Eye of the Storm is where we measure the strongest wind forces on planet Earth.
Immediately next to it in the center... no wind force at all. Just a major depression.
So, we know based on this model that the maximum strength of gravity in the entire galaxy is then found right next to the net-zero spot. This force prevents then any passage of photons. It does not matter that the center itself would not present any obstacle for photons.
As long as we agree that photons can bend their pathways due to gravity, then we have the two models as follows.
Black Hole: photons are attracted inward to the invisible mass and can't escape.
Black Eye: photons are pushed outward by the enormous gravitational forces of the Galactic Masses (a major depression in its center). The photons can therefore not follow their straight paths through the center. A Black Eye results because there are not photons to light it up.
In both cases, the gravitational force is equal in strength, but the Black Hole model pulls the photons in whereas the Black Eye model swaths them away.

I know that in the Black Eye model, gravity is not seen as that strong unless directly associated with a mass.
That's why the wind force model helps out. The wind force can strengthen enormously, and a truck can get picked up by the Wall of the Eye of the Storm.
Meanwhile, the outer areas of the storm (or the Eye) cannot even lift up a pebble. The further away from the center of the storm, the less heavy items can get picked up. There truly is an enormous gathering of force in the center (around that zero spot).
It does not matter which model we pick. The gravitational force is real, and of the same strength in both models, except envisioned in a different spot (exactly in the center, or exactly around the center).

Let me see if I can help you a bit model-wise because something special happens when going from one model to the other.
Again, Rubin's Vase. Here are the two options, but now declared in numbers.
The Vase: 0 - 1 - 0
Obviously, the 1 is the Vase.
The two 0s are unimportant nothings.
The Two Faces: 1 - 0 - 1
Obviously, each Face is a 1.
The single 0 is a nothing still, but this time it is taking up an important position.
Had it not been for the 0 in the Two Faces, the Two Faces would not have been separate entities. Therefore, the zero declares something very important: the lack of an overall unity. Meanwhile, each Face does represent us their own kind of unity, just each for themselves.
I hope this helps seeing that both models are not each other's opposites. Both models are fully independent of the other model with different aspects.
In the Black Hole model, nothing is just plain nothing and we can focus on the center as a special, material spot. With the Vase, we like to put items in the center.
In the Black Eye model, nothing takes up that center spot and everything else plays out around it. With the Two Faces, we like to put nothing in the center.
Lastly therefore a binary star system.
It has three gravitational centers. Two are found with the stars, and one is found with the both of them. Naturally, the third gravitational center does not contain a mass. No one would say that.
Yet when the mathematical model is X + 1 (2 stars + 1 = 3 gravitational centers), when there are 1,000,000 stars, we forget to add in that 1 gravitational center that does not have a mass. You see it? Physicists turned the nonmaterial position into a material position (one that is not visible).
The scientific model is flawed, Aaron. I hope you can see the other model so you can also see what the flaw is with the Black Hole model.
Perhaps that won't happen, but I want you to know that I am grateful that you are willing to investigate the different model.
