The US actually exported the neolibertarian ideal of less governmental regulation (and more governmental spending toward the 'right' ideals). Together with Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan made investors across the globe pay attention and therefore caused other nations to deregulate their societies so investors would remain attracted to them, too.

Brexit is making the EU veer back toward its more normal social-democratic base lines. The rich and large companies are taxed more to help out with Covid and the economic stresses due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine; minimum wage increases are now linked to wage increases of the middle-tier earners.

Why would the EU veer back? Because the democratic principles in Europe are not pure winner-take-all, like the UK and the US have. The democracies of Mainland Europe are either pure proportional or they are a mixture of both systems (particularly smart for large nations in light of stability). As such they are prone to listen to all better and not just to their political elites.

The Founding Fathers actually put that same social-democratic structure in place for the inside of the USA -- it’s our guaranteed pursuit of happiness.

Yet they had to make the Federation survive and therefore they put that smart political limitation in place. The USA would not have survived had twenty political directions pulled on its center.

With restrictions in place for the Federation, the Founding Fathers made sure to write the Bill of Rights with, for instance, the Ninth Amendment that warns governments not to deny or disparage rights retained by the People. They empowered the People. They desired the political restrictions of the Federation to remain the political restrictions of the Federation.

Let me repeat this: On the boundaries of our political nation, restrictions were put in place to make the USA strong and capable of withstanding both foreign and internal troubles.

On the inside of our political nation, however, freedom for its people was ensured. We The People got put in place for us to enjoy the best of the best we could establish for ourselves.

A Republic, if you can keep it.

And we didn't. Still, we can get it back.

What happened was that the political restrictions of the Federal level were copied and pasted at the State levels, and then insult to injury got copied and pasted at the local level as well.

That is why we have a two-party system. The political powers that needed to be restricted at the Federal level got restricted on two additional levels, while the Founding Fathers particularly wrote that governments should not be doing that. No government is allowed to restrict us -- unless specifically given the powers or the freedom to do so in the US Constitution.

For sure, cities and counties are not even mentioned in the US Constitution, so they for certain cannot restrict us with these electoral voting systems that they are engaged in today. Cities and counties are the easiest spots to get our social-democratic ideals realized. Automatically, we will end up with a third and perhaps a fourth party if we take the States as well. That is harder, but we don’t need to rewrite the US Constitution to break them open; it is the law of the land already.
