The quarks are almost enough to tell the story. All we need extra are the leptons (electrons) and we're done. At least for this one level.

Three subatomic particle. Done.

But the fun part is that the quarks come via a different pathway than the electrons. Still from the same original energy that existed prior (and still exists to a large extent), but two different pathways nevertheless.

Protons and electrons exist in equal numbers in our universe. But it is the protons that set that number, while the electrons are the reaction to the positive charges of the protons.

That means that there is a reality next to the quark reality from which that electric charge is pulled.

Two realities, therefore, that together make matter be matter.
